A tragic incident occurred in Bridgwater, Somerset, early Monday morning when a pedestrian lost his life following a collision with a vehicle.
Emergency services responded to the scene in Barhams Close at approximately 6:30am, where a man in his fifties was struck by a Mercedes Sprinter van. Sadly, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
Avon and Somerset Police have confirmed that the victim’s family has been informed and are being supported by specialist officers during this difficult time.

Officers are seeking any witnesses or individuals who may have relevant information regarding the collision. The police have particularly appealed for anyone who may have dashcam or CCTV footage from the area around the time of the accident to come forward.
A statement from Avon and Somerset Police said: “We are appealing for witnesses and anybody with information relating to a fatal collision in Bridgwater this morning (Monday 17 August).
“We were called to a collision involving a pedestrian and a Mercedes Sprinter van in Barhams Close at around 6.30am.
“The pedestrian, a man in his fifties, sadly died at the scene. His family have been informed and will be supported by specialist officers while enquiries continue.
“Any witnesses, those with information, or anybody with relevant CCTV or dashcam footage at around the time of the incident are urged to contact us on 101 quoting reference number 5226231227.”
