A man in his 40s tragically lost his life after being struck by a vehicle in the early hours of Saturday morning. Emergency services responded promptly to the A38 in Brent Knoll shortly after 5am, following reports that a white Vauxhall Astra had collided with a pedestrian.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle remained and is cooperating fully with the police investigation.
Avon and Somerset Police have confirmed the fatality and are appealing for witnesses to come forward. As a result of the incident, a stretch of the A38 between the Fox and Goose pub and the Edithmead roundabout was closed on Saturday morning while investigations continued.

A police spokesperson stated: “Officers are investigating a fatal collision on the A38 in Brent Knoll that occurred this morning, 29 August, and are seeking witnesses to assist with enquiries.”
“We received a call from the ambulance service at 5.20am regarding a collision involving a pedestrian and a white Vauxhall Astra. Despite the best efforts of emergency personnel, the pedestrian, a man in his 40s, sadly died at the scene. His family has been informed, and our deepest sympathies are with them during this difficult time.”
“The driver remained at the location and is assisting officers with their enquiries. The A38 has been closed between the Fox and Goose pub and the B3140 roundabout while the scene is being examined.”
