A man in his 40s tragically lost his life after being struck by a car on the A38 in Brent Knoll during the early hours of Saturday morning. Emergency services responded swiftly to reports of a collision involving a white Vauxhall Astra and a pedestrian shortly after 5am.
Despite the efforts of emergency crews, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle remained at the location and has been cooperating fully with the police investigation.
Avon and Somerset Police have confirmed the fatality and appealed for any witnesses to come forward. A section of the A38, specifically between the Fox and Goose pub and the Edithmead roundabout, remained closed throughout Saturday morning to allow thorough examination of the incident site.

A police spokesperson stated, “Officers investigating a fatal collision on the A38 in Brent Knoll this morning (29 August) are appealing for witnesses. We were called by the ambulance service at 5.20am regarding a collision involving a pedestrian and a white Vauxhall Astra.
“Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of emergency services, the pedestrian, a man in his 40s, died at the scene. His family have been informed, and our thoughts are with them during this difficult time.
“The driver stayed at the scene and has been assisting with our enquiries. The A38 remains closed between the Fox and Goose pub and the B3140 roundabout while the investigation is ongoing.
