Passenger Dies in BMW Crash on Somerset A-Road

A tragic accident occurred early Saturday morning on a Somerset A-road, resulting in the death of a passenger. At approximately 1:45 a.m. on January 17, a black BMW collided with a tree at Rode Common, the junction of the A361 and Rode Hill near Frome.

The vehicle was traveling towards Trowbridge when the crash happened. Despite prompt emergency response, the front seat passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. Formal identification has not yet been completed, but the victim’s next of kin have been notified and are receiving support from a specialist family liaison officer.

A man in his twenties, believed to be the driver, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He was treated at a hospital and is currently in police custody.
