The Lawson family is grieving the tragic loss of Colin Lawson, 43, who died on August 22 at a home in Holbrook Park, South Petherton. Colin’s partner, Josephine, has paid a moving tribute to the man she describes as the “heart and soul” of their family.
Graham Janes, 49, from Pear Tree Drive, Chard, has been charged with Colin’s murder and is scheduled to appear at Bristol Crown Court for a pre-trial plea and hearing on September 17.
Josephine’s heartfelt words capture the profound impact Colin had on those who knew him:

“The heart and soul of our family is gone, and the silence left in Colin’s absence is deafening.
He was an extraordinary man—kind, considerate, loving, funny, intelligent, and wise. To know Colin was to experience warmth, generosity, and a spirit that lifted everyone around him.
Proudly Scottish, he celebrated his heritage with joy and pride, always ready with a story, a fact, or a witty remark that brought smiles and reflection. His knowledge was vast, his humour infectious, and his compassion boundless. Colin freely gave his time, help, and love without ever asking for anything in return.
Despite the challenges posed by his failing eyesight, he never let it dim his passion for life. He pursued the things he loved with resilience and courage, setting a powerful example for us all.
He was a devoted father to Josh and Connor, a caring stepfather to Dominic, Tyler, and Ruby, and a proud step-grandfather to Hayley.
To me, Colin was my light, my love, my best friend, and my everything. Together, we built a beautiful life between Edinburgh and Somerset, full of laughter, love, and unforgettable memories.
The void left by his passing is immeasurable. Our lives were enriched, made fuller, and brighter because of him. Whether you knew Colin for five minutes or a lifetime, he made a lasting impression that will never fade.
We will carry him with us always—in our hearts, in our stories, and in the love he gave so freely. Colin will be forever loved, forever missed, and forever cherished.”
