A North Somerset man is gearing up to accomplish an extraordinary feat at this year’s London Marathon. Ben Karthauser, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2021, will strive to become the fastest man with the condition to complete the 26.2-mile race, as well as raise funds for the charity Cure Parkinson’s.
Ben’s participation in the TCS London Marathon is not just a personal endeavor but also a part of a broader campaign to support research into treatments for the degenerative condition, which currently lacks a cure.
The Guinness World Record attempt is a result of the initiative of Ben’s wife, Sarah, who reached out to Guinness World Records to establish an official category for men with Parkinson’s. Ben now aims to be the first to set the record at the 2025 London Marathon.
