The fundraising efforts for the victims of the tragic Minehead school coach accident have surged past £40,000. The incident, which occurred Thursday, involved a vehicle carrying between 60 and 70 people returning from a school trip to Exmoor Zoo. Tragically, a 10-year-old boy lost his life as the coach flipped onto its roof and slid down an embankment. Two other children remain hospitalized.
In response, three separate fundraisers have been launched, raising over £21,000 within the first 24 hours. By the following morning, donations had doubled, with more than 1,500 people contributing.
Bobbie Rammond, a father of two from Taunton, created a GoFundMe campaign that has collected nearly £25,000. Another fundraiser organized by the nearby Hinkley Point C nuclear power plant has raised over £14,300. The third fundraiser, established for Minehead Middle School — the school attended by many of the children — has brought in over £2,200.

Hinkley Point C, located just 20 miles from Minehead and home to more than 12,000 workers, has been deeply affected by the tragedy. Many employees have children attending the school or are alumni themselves. The site’s hundreds of Mental Health First Aiders have rallied support for students and parents, which has spread throughout the workforce.
The Hinkley Point C GoFundMe page states: “At this early stage, we are not certain how the funds will be allocated, but potential uses include funeral costs, support for families impacted by the crash, private trauma counseling if NHS services are insufficient, and assistance for the school community.”
Bobbie Rammond’s goal is to raise £30,000 to meet the urgent needs of the families directly affected. In addition to immediate financial support, he plans to provide mental health resources for those traumatized by the accident.
Donations can be made through Bobbie’s business Facebook page and the other fundraiser platforms set up for this cause.
