Over £21,000 Raised in Support of Minehead Bus Crash Victims

In the wake of the tragic bus crash in Minehead, more than £21,000 has been swiftly raised to support the victims and their families. The devastating accident occurred last Thursday when a coach, carrying between 60 and 70 people returning from a school trip to Exmoor Zoo, flipped onto its roof and slid down an embankment. A 10-year-old boy lost his life, and two other children remain hospitalized.

The community’s response has been extraordinary, with three fundraisers established in just over a day. Among them, a campaign launched by the Hinkley Point C nuclear power plant has raised over £9,300, while Minehead Middle School’s fundraiser has collected upwards of £400.

The most prominent campaign, however, is a GoFundMe page created by Taunton father of two, Bobbie Rammond. Moved by the tragedy, Bobbie expressed, “As a father myself, I can only imagine the heartbreak the families are enduring.” His goal is to raise £24,000 to address the urgent needs of those most affected and to provide mental health support for community members traumatized by the event.

By early morning, Bobbie’s fundraiser had already accumulated £12,500, including a generous anonymous donation of £500. He shared his gratitude with supporters, saying, “I’m overwhelmed by the incredible response. Thank you to everyone who has donated, shared, and offered kind words — your compassion is already making a difference.”

Bobbie is actively seeking to connect with families directly impacted by the crash to offer assistance and tailor support effectively. Those wishing to help or needing information about the fund can reach out through his business’s Facebook page.

The Minehead community’s rapid and heartfelt response exemplifies the strength and unity that arises in times of tragedy, offering a beacon of hope and comfort to those who need it most.
