In Bath, St Mark’s School has postponed its Year 11 Prom, originally scheduled for Thursday evening, due to the extreme heat and ongoing closures. A school spokesperson said, “Sadly, due to the extreme heat and school closures, the difficult decision has been made to postpone the Year 11 Prom originally scheduled for this Thursday evening. It has been rescheduled to Wednesday, July 8. We are incredibly sorry to have to delay this celebration, but the safety and comfort of our students on their special night is our priority. Thank you for your ongoing support and adaptability during a very busy and challenging week!"

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has warned of “severe impacts” across the region as a result of the heatwave, highlighting risks such as dehydration, overheating, heat exhaustion, and heatstroke.

As the situation develops, schools remain vigilant, prioritizing the health and well-being of students and staff amid this unprecedented heat event.
