Osip in Bruton Named Second-Best Restaurant in the UK

Osip, a Michelin-starred restaurant nestled in Bruton, Somerset, has earned the prestigious title of the second-best restaurant in the UK, according to the National Restaurant Awards 2026 held in London. This remarkable achievement highlights Osip’s dedication to exceptional cuisine and sustainable dining.

Led by acclaimed Devon-born chef Merlin Labron-Johnson, Osip is celebrated for its ever-changing menu crafted from locally sourced ingredients. Situated in a charming 19th-century farmhouse surrounded by pine forests, the restaurant offers a true farm-to-table experience, complete with an on-site garden and beehives that contribute to its fresh and distinctive flavors.

Osip is one of only two Somerset restaurants to feature in the top 100, with fellow Bruton establishment The Briar securing the 68th spot. The Briar’s team expressed their excitement, saying, “We are honoured to be included on the National Restaurant Awards top 100 list, especially alongside our friends at Osip. Thanks to our dedicated staff and loyal guests for making this possible.”

Celebrating the accolade on Instagram, Osip team member Daniel John Willis confidently declared, “Next year we’ll be No. 1!”

Other South West contenders recognized at the awards include Dongnae (12th) and Wilsons (32nd) in Bristol, Paul Ainsworth at No6 in Cornwall (76th), and The Seahorse in Devon (84th). While London restaurants dominated the list, Osip’s high ranking showcases the growing prominence of exceptional dining experiences beyond the capital.

Osip welcomes guests Tuesday through Sunday, while The Briar is open from Tuesday to Saturday.
