Osip, a standout restaurant in Bruton, Somerset, has earned the prestigious title of being the second-best restaurant in the UK, according to the National Restaurant Awards 2026 held in London. This Michelin-starred establishment is the culinary brainchild of celebrated Devon-born chef Merlin Labron-Johnson, celebrated for its ever-evolving daily menu and commitment to locally sourced ingredients.
Housed in a charming 19th-century farmhouse surrounded by pine forests, Osip prides itself on a farm-to-table dining experience enriched by its on-site garden and beehives. The restaurant’s dedication to freshness and sustainability has clearly resonated with critics and diners alike.
Osip stands out as one of only two Somerset restaurants to secure a place in the top 100, alongside The Briar, also located in Bruton, which claimed the 68th spot. The Briar’s team expressed their excitement, highlighting the honor of being listed among such esteemed company and applauding their hardworking staff and loyal guests.

Celebrating their achievement on Instagram, Osip team member Daniel John Willis confidently declared: “Next year we’ll be No 1!”.
The ceremony also recognized other notable South West eateries, including Dongnae in Bristol (12th), Wilsons in Bristol (32nd), Paul Ainsworth at No6 in Cornwall (76th), and The Seahorse in Devon (84th). London restaurants dominated the list, accounting for over half of the entries and most of the top 20 spots.
Osip welcomes diners from Tuesday to Sunday, while The Briar is open Tuesday to Saturday.
