An original Mr Blobby costume, one of only three ever made, is expected to attract bids worth thousands of pounds at an upcoming auction. This vibrant pink and yellow spotted suit, made famous on the 1990s BBC One Saturday night show ‘Noel’s House Party,’ is widely regarded as a symbol of classic British comedy.
The costume belonged to the late Mickey Wills, former Head of Entertainment at the Cricket St Thomas ‘Blobbyland’ theme park in Somerset. Wills was personally trained by Barry Killerby, the actor who originally brought Mr Blobby to life on television. Wearing the heavy, energetic suit, Wills performed up to seven shows daily at Blobbyland, entertaining approximately two million visitors during the peak of Blobbymania.
Auctioneum Ltd, hosting the British Comedy Auction on June 29th, describes the costume as a “historically significant” collector’s item. Auctioneer Andy Stowe emphasized the rarity of the piece: “This was one of the original three costumes made for the character. Offering it at auction is a once in a lifetime opportunity.”

Unlike the first two suits used mainly in studio settings, this third costume was crafted for outdoor broadcast segments and physically demanding stunts. It featured prominently in Mr Blobby’s 1990s multi-platinum-selling VHS home video releases and took part in memorable exploits such as running along Charmouth beach and even dangling from a helicopter.
Recently, Mr Blobby has experienced a nostalgic renaissance, appearing on shows like The Claudia Winkleman Show and the British version of Saturday Night Live. Andrew from Auctioneum noted, “Mr Blobby is iconic—the ultimate symbol of 90s nostalgia. We’ve seen clients’ hilarious reactions when they see the costume on display. It’s not just a suit; it’s a piece of pure British comedy history.”
Alongside the main costume, the auction includes ‘Baby Blobby,’ a smaller version used at the Crinkley Bottom attraction. The combined lot is expected to sell for between £3,000 and £5,000.
