Omaze-Won Bath House Becomes Exclusive Holiday Rental

Batheaston House, a stunning £4 million property located just outside Bath, has been transformed into a high-end holiday rental by its new owners, Paul Knight and Justin Snowdon. The couple won the six-bedroom, 12-sleeper house earlier this year in the Omaze Million Pound House Draw with just a £20 entry.

Although owning such a prestigious home was a dream come true, the duo realized the ongoing costs made living there unaffordable. Rather than selling, they chose to offer Batheaston House as a holiday let so others could experience its unique charm. “Once the initial shock wore off, we wanted to share this beautiful home with others,” said Paul. “Holiday letting allows us to generate income while still enjoying the property ourselves. It’s been a career change, and the support from the Sykes team has been amazing.”

The 16th-century residence boasts rare historical features including a Tudor charcoal stove, 17th-century graffiti, and a functioning Tudor-era well. To blend tradition with modern luxury, Paul and Justin added amenities such as a home cinema and a hot tub. While Justin maintains his career as a flight attendant, Paul has shifted focus from DJing and bar management to running the holiday let.

James Shaw, Chief Commercial Officer at Sykes Holiday Cottages, praised their approach: “Paul and Justin exemplify how diverse holiday letting can be. Opening their Million Pound House to guests not only brings financial rewards but also flexible lifestyle benefits.”

Holiday lets remain a contentious topic in Bath, with concerns from local groups about housing availability for residents. Last year, a proposed cap on holiday rentals was overwhelmingly voted down in the city council, reflecting ongoing debates about tourism’s impact.

For those interested, Batheaston House is available to book online, offering a rare chance to stay in a luxurious home steeped in history.
