The report praised the school’s inclusive culture, noting that it contributes significantly to pupils’ academic success as well as their personal development, including their social skills and wellbeing.

Inspectors observed high-quality interactions between staff and pupils, promoting language development and vocabulary growth. Furthermore, consistent routines ensure that children meet the school’s high standards for behaviour.

Oldmixon met the expected standard in five areas, with early years provision and inclusion rated as strong. The report also noted an improvement in pupil attendance.

While the inspection was overwhelmingly positive, it did highlight areas for continued growth. Leaders are encouraged to further strengthen teaching methods to help more pupils develop deep, detailed knowledge and achieve higher in reading, writing, and mathematics. The school is also advised to maintain its focus on improving attendance and reducing absences.

Oldmixon Primary School’s dedication to going “above and beyond” for its pupils has clearly resonated with Ofsted, cementing its reputation as a supportive and high-achieving school.
