Shoppers in Street can now conveniently pick up their everyday essentials right on the high street, thanks to the launch of a One Stop convenience store inside the newly reopened Street Post Office.
On Friday, July 18, Councillor Anna Thomson, vice chair of Street Parish Council, officially cut the ribbon at 85 High Street, the former site of WHSmith. The store, which closed in January and took the town’s Post Office with it, has now been revitalised under new ownership.
Hardik and Rachana Pandya, who also operate Post Offices in Backwell and Keynsham, reopened the Street Post Office on June 9. Their goal of combining essential postal services with a well-stocked convenience store has now become a reality with the new One Stop store launch.

“My wife and I have 18 years of retail experience, but we only acquired our first Post Office in 2021,” said Hardik Pandya. “Drawing from our experience in Backwell and Keynsham, we wanted to provide a convenient, local option here in Street. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, especially from older residents who previously had to travel far for groceries due to the lack of a supermarket on the high street.”
Hardik added, “Our store offers a wide range of products, from fresh meat, fruits, and vegetables to everyday essentials like phone chargers and lightbulbs – everything you need under one roof.”
Rachana Pandya emphasized their commitment to the community: “We’re very community-focused. We want to build strong relationships with our customers and tailor our offerings to meet their needs.” In addition to groceries, the store also features takeaway sandwiches, a coffee station, and a slushie machine for added convenience.
Kara Boswell, Post Office Area Manager, commended the Pandyas’ dedication: “Hardik and Rachana are doing a fantastic job serving the people of Street. They truly care about their customers and are well-versed in Post Office services. The addition of a fully stocked convenience store is a great asset to the community. The new One Stop looks fantastic, and I’m confident it will be warmly embraced by locals.”
The One Stop store is open Mondays to Saturdays from 7am to 9pm and Sundays from 9am to 6pm. The Post Office operates Monday to Friday from 9am to 5:30pm and Saturdays from 9am to 1pm.
