Avon and Somerset Police have assured the public that there is no broader threat following the tragic stabbing death of a nine-year-old girl in Weston-Super-Mare. Officers and Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) will continue patrolling the area, not due to ongoing danger, but to provide reassurance and support for the local community.
The girl was found deceased at a home on Lime Close on the evening of Monday, December 15. Paramedics alerted police at 6:09 pm, and a teenage boy was promptly arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in police custody as investigations proceed.
A police spokesperson expressed deep sympathy for the bereaved family, emphasizing the gravity of their loss and the sensitive nature of the case. “We recognize the immense shock and grief this news has caused in Weston-Super-Mare. Our thoughts are with the family, and specially trained officers are supporting them during this difficult time,” the statement read.
