New Somerset Planning Applications Highlight Diverse Development Projects

Numerous planning applications have been submitted in Somerset, showcasing a range of potential developments including industrial units at a sawmill, commercial spaces near housing developments, and upgrades to a cheese producer. These applications are set to undergo the determination process, with some going before the council’s planning committees for review.

The council’s planning committees, comprising elected councillors, are tasked with making decisions in line with planning policies rather than local politics. Some of the notable proposals include:

  • Somerset Timber Services' plan to convert part of its sawmill into light industrial units.
  • TJ Morris Ltd.’s application for new commercial units near a housing development site in Frome.
  • An application to alter a property in Bridgwater to accommodate a larger number of residents.
  • Graham Wason’s proposal for a new industrial unit and workshop.
  • Wyke Farms' plan to build a combined heat and power engine at its cheese and butter making base.
