Lulworth beach in Somerset is about to get even more alluring with the introduction of a new seaside sauna setting. The Weld Estate has been granted permission to install the beach-side sauna, which will be operated year-round by The Saltwater Sauna, known for its successful operation in Poole since 2021. The sauna, to be housed in a building that includes a separate hot room, changing area, and staff office, will be powered by a wood burner and solar photovoltaic (PV) panel on the roof.
The proposed opening hours will cater to early risers and late-night beach enthusiasts, ensuring a wide range of visitors can enjoy the experience. While the prospect of this new addition has been received positively by many, there are mixed opinions within the community. The parish council, for instance, has expressed concerns about the chosen site and the stability of the land behind the structure.
Despite the divided public opinion, the addition of the seaside sauna is expected to enhance the area’s tourism allure and provide visitors with a unique and rejuvenating beach experience.
