The Post Office has confirmed it will open a new branch in Bath’s Oldfield Park area this October. Situated inside the Londis store on Moorland Road, this branch will replace the Post Office previously located in the Morrisons supermarket on the same road, which closed last year following the supermarket’s shutdown.
Although this development ensures continuity of local postal services, it does not represent a replacement for Bath’s main city centre Post Office. The central branch, currently housed in the former WH Smith on Stall Street, is scheduled to close on 1 September ahead of the TG Jones shop’s closure later in the month.
Bath MP Wera Hobhouse and Bath and North East Somerset Council have expressed the importance of reopening a central Post Office soon. However, no definitive date has been set. The Post Office revealed it is actively reviewing expressions of interest from various retailers who might host the new central branch. The process, dependent on eligibility such as existing postmaster accreditation and suitable premises, typically takes around six months.
