New Police Dispersal Order Targets Antisocial Behaviour in Bath’s Kingsmead Square

Residents of Bath’s Kingsmead Square have been grappling with persistent antisocial behaviour, disrupting the peace and wellbeing of the local community. In response, local police have implemented a dispersal order this weekend to tackle the issue effectively.

The order grants officers the authority to disperse groups and prevent further antisocial actions within a designated area, giving them the power to require individuals who are causing or likely to cause disturbances to leave Kingsmead Square. Those asked to leave must not return while the order is active.

This dispersal order takes effect immediately and remains in place until 12:30 pm on Sunday, July 13. It covers the stretch from James Street West to Lower Borough Walls, including Monmouth Street, Upper Borough Walls, and part of Westgate Street.

Bath police took to social media to inform the public: “Following reports from members of the public of antisocial behaviour, a dispersal order has been put in place for the Kingsmead Square area of Bath until 12:30 pm on Sunday afternoon. Under this order, officers are empowered to require individuals who are committing or are likely to commit antisocial behaviour to leave the designated area.”

Chief Inspector Scott Hill, Area Commander for Bath and North East Somerset (BANES), emphasized the police’s commitment: “The local neighbourhood policing team in Bath is working closely with our communities to address concerns regarding ongoing antisocial behaviour in the Kingsmead Square area. This dispersal notice ensures our communities can enjoy the area without having to witness or experience this type of disruptive behaviour.”
