New Micropub Planned for Vacant Somerset Estate Agents

The former Hunters Estate Agents building at number 46 on Portishead’s high street may soon breathe new life as a “specialist” micropub, pending approval from the North Somerset Council. The proposed micropub aims to revitalize the unoccupied space and create a small beer garden on the once “very untidy unloved yard.”

The micropub plans to focus on offering quality local cask ale, with occasional guest ales, as well as a selection of local ciders, soft drinks, and traditional bar snacks. Embracing the ethos of providing an atmosphere for conversation and socializing, the establishment will steer clear of electronic entertainment, including music, television, or fruit machines. The concept aims to encourage interaction and community engagement over quiet drinks sourced from independent local producers.

Operating under the name “Settle Inn,” the micropub intends to have shorter trading hours and position itself as a unique space for purveying local cask ale, cider, and traditional bar snacks while fostering a sense of community through conversation and socializing. The proposal also seeks to introduce new customers to the area, potentially benefitting established local shops and eateries.
