Crossman Acquisitions Ltd., a Bath-based company, has presented an outline plan to build 71 homes on Moorland Road at the northern edge of Street, near a household waste recycling center in Somerset. It also aims to create a significant wildflower meadow to counterbalance any potential increase in phosphates resulting from the new homes. Somerset Council is anticipated to reach a decision on the proposal in late summer.
A portion of the planned homes, 21 units, will be affordable, meeting the council’s requirement for new developments to have 30% affordable housing. The proposed site is well-connected to local services, with proximity to Clarks Village and Street’s High Street, providing convenient access to amenities and public transport.
In addition, the developer aims to counteract the impact of the new homes by creating a significant wildflower meadow to the west, along Cemetery Lane towards the South Drain. Crossman’s prior development endeavors in Somerset have met with varying outcomes, including both refusals and permissions.
