Frome’s vibrant cycling community has received a significant boost thanks to the generosity of the Frome Community Bike Project (FCBP). Since launching in January 2024, this local cycling hub has donated an impressive £8,500 to Frome’s Missing Links campaign, a key initiative working to connect and complete safe, off-road cycling paths throughout the town.
The announcement was made during the annual general meeting of Frome’s Missing Links, where FCBP representatives revealed the donation marks their first major financial contribution since becoming fully operational earlier this year. The total sum includes £1,500 previously contributed via the campaign’s Crowdfunder and an additional £7,000 donated this April.
Ruth Knagg, trustee of Frome’s Missing Links, expressed her gratitude and surprise at the donation: “We were amazed that the Bike Project could donate so generously so soon after opening. This funding is vital for completing the remaining sections of safe cycle and walking routes, which will enhance mobility and enjoyment for everyone in Frome. We’re deeply thankful to the entire FCBP team.”

FCBP operates as a non-profit recycling and cycling centre, quickly becoming a cornerstone of the local community. They provide refurbished bicycles, mechanical repairs, group rides, and training sessions, all aimed at making cycling more accessible.
Emma Parker, FCBP director, said, “We’re thrilled to support Frome’s Missing Links with this donation. Our dedicated volunteers and amazing community support have made this possible. We’re excited about the future and committed to promoting cycling throughout Frome.”
Volunteers play a crucial role at FCBP, assisting with bike repairs, organizing events, and leading group rides. Those interested in volunteering, particularly as retail assistants on Saturdays, are encouraged to contact the project via fromebikeproject.org or email [email protected].
