New-builds in Frome ready to reserve this weekend

Prospective buyers will finally be able to reserve homes in a highly anticipated new development in Frome this weekend. The 118 homes at Francis Fields will be available to reserve on Saturday, April 12. Named after a local man who tragically died after a three-year battle with motor neurone disease, the development offers a mix of two, three, and four-bedroom properties on Frome’s southern tip.

Three out of ten properties will be affordable houses, with the development surrounded by five acres of open space and a short walk from a local first school. Barratt David Wilson Homes South West have pledged £1.6 million to local highway works, transport, and education infrastructure.

Louise Ware, sales director for Barratt David Wilson Homes South West, expressed excitement about finally bringing high-quality, energy-efficient homes to Frome. She mentioned the focus on environmental responsibility and community wellbeing, allowing residents to live in an eco-friendlier, cheaper way with exceptional local amenities on the doorstep.

The development is named after local man Jonathan Alexander Francis, known as Alex, who died in 2022 after a three-year battle with ALS, a form of Motor Neurone Disease. The developers have promised to make a donation to MND Association in his memory.

In the name of sustainability, Francis Fields will include bat boxes, swift bricks, hedgehog highways, and water-saving appliances in the homes. The latest water and energy-saving appliances in kitchens and bathrooms are expected to reduce daily consumption by up to 26% per person per day.

The new development lies a stone’s throw away from a proposed development that was cancelled–the Selwood Garden Community, which would have included 1,700 properties if it hadn’t been cancelled in December 2024.

You can find out more about Francis Fields on David Wilson Homes' website. Two show homes will be available for viewings.
