New £30m Super Yacht Docks in Bristol’s Floating Harbour

Bristol’s Floating Harbour has welcomed a vibrant red £30m exploration super yacht known as the Akula. The luxurious vessel, allegedly owned by one of Ocado’s co-founders, arrived from Penzance and Ilfracombe, making a grand entrance into the Floating Harbour through the Cumberland Basin. The striking yacht, measuring 59.4 meters in length, was constructed by Italian shipbuilders Baglietto in La Spezia, Italy, and is estimated to be valued at 35 million euros.

While the ownership of the yacht has not been officially confirmed, there is strong speculation that it belongs to Jonathan Faiman, a former Goldman Sachs banker and a key figure in the establishment of Ocado. It is believed that the yacht is en route from its winter mooring in Portsmouth to embark on a springtime Arctic exploration trip.

According to reports, the yacht’s owner has ambitious plans for the upcoming voyage, which include visiting Scotland, the Faroe Islands, Norway, Iceland, and Greenland before heading to the East Coast of the US, aiming for the Caribbean and Central America. Despite the uncertainty of its duration in Bristol, the presence of the Akula has already garnered significant attention.

Comparatively, the Akula exceeds the size of the white yacht Miss Conduct, owned by Bristol landlord Thomas Flight, and has become the most colossal super yacht to grace Bristol’s waters since the Archimedes made waves in 2018.
