Neighbours ‘Heartbroken’ After Racially Motivated Shooting of Nine-Year-Old Girl

Neighbours in Bristol have expressed shock and heartbreak following a racially motivated shooting involving a nine-year-old girl. The incident occurred around 1.30pm on Chakeshill Drive, Brentry, when the young victim was shot three times with an airgun.

While the girl did not sustain serious physical injuries, police report that she is deeply traumatised and now afraid to leave her house. The attack is being treated as racially aggravated, prompting a police investigation and an ongoing search for two suspects.

Residents described the victim’s family as friendly and generous members of the community. One neighbour shared, “They are the best neighbours we’ve ever had. She’s like a daughter to us. They wouldn’t hurt a fly. It’s devastating to witness such violence in our community.”

The attacker is described as a white male, approximately 17-18 years old, around 5ft 11in tall, with dark blonde hair and a slim face. At the time, he wore a distinctive blue padded coat and was seen riding a black electric scooter with white writing.

Local police, led by Chief Inspector Keith Smith, emphasized the seriousness of the crime and reassured the community that officers are actively pursuing all leads. “We believe this to be an isolated incident but understand the wider impact it has had on the family and community,” Smith said.

The community remains united in condemning racism and violence. Many residents have increased security measures following the attack, including installing security cameras and checking each other’s well-being regularly.

Authorities continue to appeal for any witnesses or those with relevant footage to come forward. The victim and her family are receiving support from Stand Against Racism and Inequality (SARI) as part of the ongoing response to this troubling incident.
