National Trust Launches Takeaway Café in Historic Stourhead Stableyard

The National Trust has unveiled a new takeaway café at the heart of Stourhead’s historic estate, providing visitors with a convenient spot to enjoy refreshments amid centuries of history. Situated within the estate’s 2,650-acre grounds, the Stableyard Café offers a range of hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, snacks, and ice creams for visitors on the go.

Although the café operates on a takeaway-only basis, there is plenty of undercover outdoor seating where guests can unwind and soak in the unique atmosphere of the Stableyard. Nicola Melville, Food and Beverage Manager, shared her enthusiasm: “We’re delighted to open the Stableyard Café. It’s an ideal place for visitors to grab a coffee before exploring the gardens or for families to enjoy snacks while the children play in the Stableyard.”

The Stableyard itself is steeped in history, having served various roles over the past 300 years, including stables, a carriage house, granary, hay lofts, accommodations for stable staff, property offices, and workshops. In recent years, it has become a favorite family destination thanks to its games and activities designed for children.
