Mystery Surrounds Disappearance of Children’s Play Area in Bath

Residents of Bath are left puzzled following the sudden disappearance of the children’s play area at Hoops Play Park near Snow Hill. Over the past few years, the playground equipment has been removed without any official announcement or explanation.

Joe Hector, 21, who grew up near the park, recalls fond memories of playing there with friends. “I used that park a lot when I was younger. After moving back to Bath recently, I noticed all the equipment was gone,” he said.

Snow Hill is a working-class neighbourhood of around 300 homes, including significant social housing and short-term accommodations for people recovering from homelessness. Many residents live in apartments without private outdoor space, making local play areas especially valuable.

Joe believes the park is essential for the community: “It’s one of the few green spaces available to families here.” In late 2024, he contacted Curo, the housing agency managing some Snow Hill properties, to inquire about the missing equipment. Although his concerns were passed to the estates manager, he has yet to receive any response despite multiple follow-ups.

While Joe hopes the play area might be restored, he stresses the importance of transparency: “If the playground was removed, there must be a valid reason. The community deserves to know what happened.”

Curo has been contacted for comment on the situation.
