Mystery Filming Set to Transform Axbridge Once Again

Axbridge, a charming Somerset town, is preparing for another round of film production that promises only a brief interruption to local life. Scheduled from 6pm on Saturday, June 7, through 7pm on Monday, June 9, the unnamed project marks the latest of several recent filming ventures taking over the town.

Though Axbridge Town Council has kept details under wraps, the community is no stranger to the excitement of cameras and crews. Earlier this month, the town wrapped filming for the second series of the popular drama A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder.

A spokesperson for the council expressed gratitude to residents, stating, “We thank everyone in Axbridge for their ongoing understanding and cooperation during these filming periods. While this next disruption is short, there are no planned road closures, minimizing impact on daily life.”

Importantly, the town is set to benefit significantly from these creative endeavors. The council revealed that film-related profits will support the development of a new public recreation area on land generously donated by the family of the late Derek Law, a respected Axbridge resident who passed away in 2021 at the age of 95.

“We are currently navigating the planning permission process to transform this agricultural field between Knightstone Close and Portmead Drove into a community recreation space,” the council added. “All monies received from film productions will be invested in creating a green space for everyone to enjoy.”

This generous gift from the Law family includes a stipulation that the field remain an open recreation area indefinitely, protecting it from future development. The council plans to explore various options to optimize the field’s use while preserving its natural beauty.

As Axbridge continues to welcome filmmakers and viewers alike, this small town is proving that it’s more than just a picturesque backdrop — it’s a community thriving through creativity and generosity.
