Murder Suspect Released on Bail Following Discovery of Missing Man’s Body in North Dorset

A man suspected of murder has been released on bail after the body of a missing 23-year-old man was found in North Dorset this week, prompting an ongoing investigation.

The deceased, identified as Damian, was last seen in the early hours of Saturday, May 17, near Station Road. His body was discovered on Saturday, May 24, at approximately 12:45 pm in the Newton Hill area close to Sturminster Newton.

Following the discovery, a Blandford man in his 30s, believed to be known to Damian, was arrested on suspicion of murder. He has since been released on police bail as inquiries continue.

Dorset Police issued a statement: “Detectives are intensifying their investigation into the death of a man in North Dorset and are renewing their appeal for information. The death is currently being treated as unexplained. Damian’s family has been informed and is being kept up to date with developments.”

Detective Inspector Mark Jenkins emphasized the importance of community cooperation, stating, “Our thoughts are with Damian’s family during this difficult time. We are conducting detailed enquiries to understand the circumstances surrounding his death. We urge anyone who had contact with Damian on May 17 to come forward if they have not already done so. A visible police presence remains in Sturminster Newton, and officers are available to assist the public with any concerns or information.”
