A 49-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was found critically injured at a property in Holbrook Park, South Petherton, Somerset, earlier this week. Emergency services responded shortly after 7pm on Friday, August 22, but despite their efforts, the injured man, believed to be in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A post-mortem examination is scheduled for Sunday, August 24, to determine the exact cause of death. Formal identification of the deceased will take place next week, authorities said.
The suspect was taken to hospital for treatment following the incident and was subsequently taken into police custody. Police have increased their presence in the area as the investigation continues but have stated that there is no wider threat to the public.

Detective Inspector Alan Smith expressed condolences to the victim’s family, noting that support is being provided to the victim’s partner. He also reassured the community that thorough investigative work is underway and that the police are available to address any concerns from local residents.
