Murder Arrest Following Discovery of Young Man’s Body in South West Town

A man in his 30s from Blandford has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the body of 23-year-old Damian, a local resident, was discovered in Newton Hill near Sturminster Newton, Dorset. The body was found on Saturday, May 24 at approximately 12:45 pm.

Damian had been reported missing after last being seen around 3 am on Saturday, May 17 near Station Road. His family has been informed and is receiving support as Dorset Police continue their investigation, which is currently treating the death as unexplained.

Detective Inspector Mark Jenkins from Dorset Police expressed his condolences to Damian’s family and appealed for public assistance. “We are conducting a thorough and careful inquiry to determine the exact circumstances surrounding this death. We urge anyone who had contact with Damian on May 17 or who has relevant information to come forward,” he said.

The suspect, known to the victim, remains in police custody as enquiries continue. Dorset Police have assured the public there will be a visible presence in the Sturminster Newton area and encourage anyone with information or concerns to approach officers.
