Mums’ Somerset Walk Turns Heartbreaking Discovery into Lifesaving Rescue

What began as a simple countryside walk in Somerset turned into an unforgettable, life-saving mission for Louise Boyce and her friends. Sharing her story on TikTok, Louise recounted how their casual stroll through the fields became an emotional and heroic rescue.

“We went for a walk… just a regular walk in a field,” Louise explained in her video, accompanied by the faint bleating of lambs. Curious, they followed the sound and soon discovered two lambs alone and distressed. “We realised quite quickly that their mother was dead,” she revealed. “The two lambs were just trying to suckle her teat and wake her up.”

Faced with this heartbreaking scene, Louise acted swiftly. After reaching out to the property owner, who contacted the farmer, she also consulted ChatGPT for immediate advice, which suggested keeping the lambs warm. “So we wrapped them up in our scarves and took them home,” Louise said. “We have now adopted two lambs… to be clear, we were advised to take the lambs home and keep them warm, otherwise they would probably die.”

Named Mary and Joseph, the lambs were cared for by Louise and her friends during their stay. The once-tragic discovery turned into a heartwarming story of nurturing and compassion. “What was meant to be a simple hour-long walk became the adoption of two lambs,” she explained.

Thankfully, after receiving care, Mary and Joseph have returned to the farm and are thriving. “We got to say a proper goodbye to them…and got to feed them,” Louise shared, accompanied by touching footage of the lambs in their arms.

Reflecting on the experience, Louise noted, “I guess you can never switch off from mothering. It’s ironic how a group of mums escape for a child-free weekend at the wonderful Wylder Somerset and end up bottle feeding two newborns.”

The story resonated deeply with viewers, with many expressing their admiration and empathy. One TikTok user commented, “This is both the saddest and most beautiful thing!” Another wrote, “You’re all amazing. I’m sat here bawling. Those little babies were so lucky you came along.”

Louise’s unexpected adventure highlights how compassion and quick thinking can turn tragedy into triumph, leaving a lasting impact on everyone involved.
