Mum’s Heartfelt Plea to Create Lasting Memories After Terminal Cancer Diagnosis

Teresa Nicodemi, a 33-year-old mother from Wells, is courageously facing a terminal diagnosis of inflammatory breast cancer. After experiencing persistent back pain, Teresa was diagnosed last June with an aggressive form of breast cancer, the same rare illness that tragically claimed the life of Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding. This form of cancer predominantly affects women under 40 and often presents subtly—as Teresa’s symptoms did with an orange-peel texture on her breast, initially misdiagnosed as infections.

Now battling stage four cancer that has spread to her spine, Teresa is confined to a wheelchair and spends many days in hospital connected to oxygen and medications. Despite these challenges, her thoughts remain with her beloved daughters, Sofia, nine, and Alessa, five.

Determined to make this Christmas unforgettable, Teresa has launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise £800. The funds will help her provide her children with special treats, a real Christmas tree—something she’s never had before—and a meaningful family trip to Crealy Theme Park and Resort in Devon, a place filled with happy memories for them all.

“I want this Christmas to be really special for my girls,” Teresa shares. “It’s not for me, it’s for them—so they have happy memories of their mum.”

Life has changed drastically for Teresa, who was previously a care worker and now relies on benefits. She reflects poignantly on the moments she’s already missed—school runs, bedtime kisses, the sound of her children’s laughter—and the many more milestones she fears she won’t witness.

“Every time they scan me now, the screen looks more clouded… like something has seeped out of me. I feel the weight of every moment slipping through my fingers, and it terrifies me,” Teresa writes on her fundraising page. “That’s why I’m starting this GoFundMe—not for luxuries, but to give my girls memories strong enough to hold onto when I can’t be there.”

With nearly £700 raised so far, Teresa and her family feel the warmth of the community’s support as they prepare to create the precious memories that will live on in Sofia and Alessa’s hearts.
