Much-loved Retired Priest Included in Latest Somerset Funeral Notices

Marion Margaret Knight, formerly a district nurse from Shepton Mallet, passed away in hospital on 6th September 2026, aged nearly 93. She was a dear friend to many. Her funeral service will be held at St Peter & St Paul’s Church, Shepton Mallet, on Wednesday 7th October at noon, followed by committal at Mendip Crematorium at 1.30 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the RNLI can be made online or sent to Trotman Funeral Directors.

A retired Anglican priest, formerly of Norton St Philip who ministered in Frome and surrounding areas, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on 18th September 2026, aged 90. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her funeral service is set for Friday 9th October at 11 am at St John’s Church, Frome. Donations may be made to St John’s Church and St Katharine’s Church.
Lyne, of Glastonbury, passed away peacefully on 13th September 2026 aged 75. Her funeral will be at Mendip Crematorium at 2.30 pm on Wednesday 7th October. Family flowers only, with donations kindly accepted for Dementia UK.
A resident of Timsbury, passed away peacefully on 7th September 2026 aged 95. The funeral service will take place at Haycombe Crematorium’s Valley Chapel on Tuesday 6th October at 2 pm. Donations to the Royal Osteoporosis Society are welcomed.
Mary Parke (née Emerson) died peacefully on 8th September aged 70. Beloved wife of Howard and loved by family and friends. Her funeral is at Valley Chapel, Haycombe Crematorium on Monday 5th October at 2 pm. Donations may be made to Mesothelioma UK.
A gentleman of Shepton Mallet passed away at St Cecilia Care Home on 18th September 2026, aged 96. His funeral service will be held at St George’s Church, Whatley, on Thursday 8th October at 11 am. Donations can be made to Dorothy House Hospice Care.
A Bath resident, formerly of Ston Easton and Midsomer Norton, died on 7th September 2026, aged 79. Funeral service will be held at Valley Chapel, Haycombe, Bath on Thursday 1st October at 11 am. Donations to Cancer Research UK and Sightsavers are invited.
Another individual passed peacefully on 8th September 2026 aged 88. Funeral service at The Valley Chapel, Haycombe Crematorium, Bath on Tuesday 6th October at 11 am. A bright dress code is preferred. Donations are welcome for The British Heart Foundation.
Sheila (née Winsborough) died peacefully at Stratton House, Bath on 11th September 2026, aged 94. Her service will be held at Manvers Street Baptist Church on Friday 2nd October, followed by a private committal. Donations may be made to Cancer Research UK or the British Heart Foundation.
A lady from Meare, formerly of Glastonbury, passed peacefully at Yeovil District Hospital on 17th September 2026 aged 90. The funeral service will take place at Mendip Crematorium on Friday 2nd October at 12.30 pm. Donations in her memory will benefit the British Heart Foundation.
A resident of Winscombe passed away peacefully on 12th September 2026 aged 81. His funeral will be held at South Bristol Crematorium on Wednesday 14th October at noon. Donations are invited for Dementia UK.
