Marks & Spencer (M&S) is preparing to open a spectacular new flagship store at Bath SouthGate shopping centre in Somerset. The grand opening is scheduled for Wednesday, February 4, with exact opening hours to be announced shortly.
This expansive 83,000 square foot store will span four floors, showcasing the very best of M&S across Food, Fashion, Home, and Beauty categories. This relocation marks a significant upgrade from its current site, as part of M&S’s wider investment strategy in the South West region, which also includes a recently opened full-line store at Bristol’s Cabot Circus.
Bath SouthGate will be among over 20 stores M&S is launching or refurbishing in the latter half of this financial year throughout the UK. Customers can look forward to an enhanced market-style food hall featuring an in-store bakery, fresh produce sourced from M&S’ Select Farms—including 100 farms located in Somerset—and dedicated flower and wine sections.

Beauty shoppers gain access to a dedicated hall featuring in-house brands like Apothecary and Fresh Elements, alongside renowned names like Clinique, Estee Lauder, Hello Sunday, TYPEBEA, Sam McKnight, and ESPA.
For those seeking a shopping pause, the store introduces a spacious 140-seat M&S Coffee Shop, providing city views and a menu of brunch and lunch items complemented by expertly prepared barista coffee.
Store manager Natalie Jordan, with over a decade of experience at M&S, shared her enthusiasm: “We are counting down the days to reveal our showstopping store. Our customers deserve the best, and this location delivers trusted quality with exciting new products. We’ve welcomed 40 new team members, and we’re thrilled to serve both local residents and visitors.”
Laurence Budden, Senior Asset Manager at British Land, echoed this excitement: “M&S is a perfect addition to SouthGate Bath, enhancing our offering with its prime city-centre location and excellent transport links. This opening ushers in a transformative year for SouthGate, complementing recent arrivals like Sunglass Hut, Zara, and Rituals, with more exciting developments ahead.”
