Marks & Spencer is preparing to launch a stunning new flagship store at Bath SouthGate, marking a significant retail development in Somerset. The store officially opens on Wednesday, February 4, with specific opening hours to be announced shortly.
Covering an impressive 83,000 square feet over four floors, this flagship destination promises to showcase the finest of M&S’s Food, Fashion, Home, and Beauty collections. The move represents a strategic relocation from the current store, set for Summer 2024, and complements a broader investment in the South West region. This follows the recent full-line store opening at Bristol’s Cabot Circus last November.
Bath SouthGate is part of M&S’s ambitious plan to introduce over 20 new or refurbished stores across the UK in the latter half of this financial year. Shoppers can expect a fresh market-style food experience featuring an in-store bakery, locally sourced fresh produce from 100 of M&S’s Select Farms based in Somerset, as well as dedicated flower and wine sections.

Beauty enthusiasts will find a dedicated hall featuring M&S’s own Apothecary and Fresh Elements skincare brands, complemented by renowned names such as Clinique, Estée Lauder, Hello Sunday, TYPEBEA, Sam McKnight, and ESPA.
For those looking to relax, the store includes an enhanced 140-seat M&S Coffee Shop, offering scenic views of Bath city alongside a menu of brunch, lunch, and expertly crafted barista hot drinks.
Natalie Jordan, Bath SouthGate store manager with over a decade of experience at M&S, expressed excitement about the upcoming launch: “We’re eagerly counting down the days to unveil this showstopping store. Our customers deserve the very best, and this new location will deliver it with fresh products, trusted quality, and excellent value. We’ve expanded our team by welcoming 40 new colleagues, making this a thrilling chapter for us here in Bath. We warmly invite local residents and visitors alike to experience what we have to offer.”
Laurence Budden, Senior Asset Manager at British Land, the owners of SouthGate, added: “We’re thrilled to welcome Marks & Spencer to SouthGate Bath. Their presence greatly strengthens our retail mix, enhancing the overall visitor experience. Featuring a prime city centre location with excellent transport links, SouthGate continues to thrive. This opening kicks off a transformational year for the centre, building on recent introductions like Sunglass Hut, Zara, and Rituals, with more exciting developments on the horizon.”
