A man in his forties has tragically died after his motorcycle was involved in a collision with a tipper truck towing a trailer on the A30 near Crewkerne.
The incident occurred at approximately 3.25pm on Monday, 27 July, on Yeovil Road. The motorcyclist was riding a Honda CB 650 towards Crewkerne, near Lower Severalls Lane, when the crash with the Ford Transit tipper truck occurred.
Emergency services attended the scene, but sadly the rider was pronounced dead at the scene. Avon and Somerset Police confirmed that the rider’s next of kin have been informed and are receiving support from a specially trained officer.

“Our thoughts and condolences are with the family at this very difficult time,” said a police spokesperson.
The driver of the tipper truck was unharmed and remained on scene to assist with police enquiries. The A30 was closed for nearly 12 hours following the crash, with the road reopening around 4am the next morning after investigation and recovery work was completed.
Police have expressed their gratitude to members of the public for their patience during this period. They are continuing their enquiries and are asking anyone who witnessed the collision, or who has dashcam footage relevant to the incident, to come forward.
