Sarah Shott, a 49-year-old mother from Trent Crescent in Melksham, appeared in Swindon Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, April 29, where she pleaded guilty to two charges of failing to provide a specimen for analysis and an additional charge of drink driving. The series of incidents occurred within a span of four months, starting on November 13, 2024, when a 999 call alerted Wiltshire Police to her erratic driving, which resulted in a collision with a lamppost on Bath Road.
Just six days later, she was witnessed struggling to drive away from a primary school, exhibiting signs of inebriation, and failing a roadside breath test. Despite these events, she continued to drive under the influence, culminating in her being caught with her children in the car on March 20, where she once again failed a breath test.
As a result, she received a suspended six-week prison sentence, a 40-month driving ban, and a requirement to undergo six months of alcohol treatment. PC Luke Hosken emphasized the danger of Shott’s actions and the potentially fatal consequences of driving under the influence, commending the measures taken to deter further offenses.
