Mother Charged with the Murder of Her Three Children in Bristol

A 43-year-old woman, Yasmeen Ali, has been formally charged with the murder of her three children following a tragic incident in Bristol last year. The Crown Prosecution Service has authorised three counts of murder against Ali, who is currently under the care of mental health services.

The devastating case dates back to the early hours of February 18, 2024, when Avon and Somerset Police responded to a 999 call at a property on Blaise Walk, Sea Mills. Upon arrival, officers discovered the bodies of three siblings: seven-year-old Fares Bash, three-year-old Joury Bash, and nine-month-old Mohammed Bash.

Post-mortem examinations revealed that all three children died from knife wounds. The investigation, described as complex and sensitive by Chief Inspector Keith Smith, has deeply affected the children’s family, friends, and the wider Sea Mills community. “The community has shown remarkable resilience and kindness throughout this difficult time,” Smith said, emphasizing the importance of respecting the ongoing legal process and avoiding speculation.

Yasmeen Ali is scheduled to appear at Bristol Magistrates' Court, with the date yet to be confirmed.

Andrew Pritchard of the Crown Prosecution Service affirmed the decision to pursue prosecution, stating there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and underscoring the importance of a fair legal process. He urged the public to refrain from sharing or commenting on information that could prejudice the proceedings.
