Construction has commenced on the final phase of the Hartnells Farm housing development in Taunton, marking a significant milestone for Persimmon Homes South West. The latest phase introduces 90 new properties, all thoughtfully designed with modern sustainability features including electric vehicle charging points and air source heat pumps to enhance energy efficiency.
Out of these, up to 22 homes will be allocated to a local housing association, ensuring affordable living options within the community. Additionally, three accessible bungalows are included to accommodate residents with mobility needs.
Environmental sustainability has been integral to the project’s design. The development preserves a mature oak tree in its south-east corner and incorporates a new green space around it. A woodland walk is also planned in the north-east portion of the site, providing a scenic recreational pathway for current and future residents.

Once completed, Hartnells Farm will house 320 households and has already opened its on-site sales cabin to the public. Demonstrating a commitment to local support, Persimmon Homes recently contributed £1,000 to the charity On Your Bike, which refurbishes bicycles and offers employment training. Other community beneficiaries include Taunton RFC Junior Section, West Monkton Parish Council, and the Wellington Baptist Church’s Warm Place programme.
Stacey Harris, Sales Director at Persimmon Homes South West, expressed enthusiasm about the project’s progress: “We’re thrilled to have started the final phase at Hartnells Farm and to have already received our first reservation. These homes are a vital addition to Taunton’s housing options. Interested buyers should act promptly to secure their spot.”
She added, “Hartnells Farm offers high-quality homes in a wonderful town with excellent transport connections. Persimmon is proud to help families realize their dream of homeownership in such a sought-after location.”
