The Somerset community is mourning the loss of Clive Bond, a respected member of the local music scene, whose body was discovered on January 24th on Red Road, near the Brean Country Club.
Clive, aged 70, was a long-time resident of Burnham-on-Sea, having lived there for over two decades. He was an active member of the Ritz Acoustic Club at the Ritz Social Club, as well as the Berrow and Brean Social Clubs, where he contributed significantly behind the scenes as a sound technician.
In a heartfelt message on Facebook, officials from the Ritz Social Club described Clive as a “quiet and modest gentleman” and expressed deep sorrow at his passing. One committee member, a personal friend of Clive since their days at the Berrow Inn, shared, “Clive has been a personal friend of mine for many years, and his loss is deeply felt by all who knew him. Our thoughts and condolences go out to his family during this difficult time.”

Originally from Holsworthy in Devon, Clive was known for his humble nature and dedication to the local music community. Family friend Rose Palmer, who has launched a GoFundMe campaign to assist with funeral arrangements, commented on the outpouring of support from both Somerset and Devon. The fundraiser highlights Clive’s modest lifestyle in his later years and the financial challenges his family faces in covering funeral costs.
“Clive’s family has been touched by the many expressions of shock and sadness,” the GoFundMe page reads. “We hope to give Clive the dignified send-off he deserves and appreciate any support to help with the expenses.”
