In an extraordinary turn of events, Archie, a dachshund who went missing in April 2022 on Enmore Road near Bridgwater, has been reunited with his family after more than three years. The heartwarming news came on August 6, 2025, when Beautys Legacy, a charity dedicated to reuniting missing animals and promoting their welfare, announced Archie’s safe return.
Sharing the joyful update on Facebook, Beautys Legacy said, “DRUM ROLL… We are thrilled to announce that after three agonizingly long years…. Archie is home.”
The charity described the emotional journey: “Yesterday afternoon, we received a call from someone claiming to have Archie. Despite some inconsistencies in the story, they provided photos and other evidence. Late last night, a meeting was arranged on neutral ground, and Sue and her son made the three-hour round trip to collect him. Archie was scanned to confirm his identity, but we never doubted he was Sue’s special boy.”

Though physically unharmed, Archie showed signs of trauma from his ordeal. “He’s terrified of men, his claws are very long, and he needs some tender loving care,” the charity explained. “But overall, he’s okay and thrilled to be safe with Sue. We will continue to support him through his rehabilitation.”
Archie was a tiny puppy when he was taken and is now three years old, meaning both he and Sue face the task of rebuilding their bond. Sue has endured significant hardship over the past three years, including the loss of her husband while Archie was missing. The dog’s return marks the beginning of healing and happier times for the family.
Lisa Dean, senior animal welfare officer at Beautys Legacy, noted the rarity of such a reunion after so many years. Meanwhile, Avon and Somerset Police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding Archie’s disappearance.
