Minehead School Set to Reopen Following Tragic Bus Crash

Minehead Middle School in Somerset will reopen this Monday for the first time since a tragic bus crash claimed the life of a 10-year-old pupil and left several others injured. The school had closed on Friday, following the devastating accident on Thursday afternoon.

The incident occurred as a school bus carrying between 60 to 70 pupils and staff was returning from a trip to Exmoor Zoo. Traveling along the A396 at Cutcombe Hill near Minehead, the bus veered off the road, overturned, and came to rest approximately 20 feet down a steep slope. The accident took place around 3:15 pm, between Wheddon Cross and Timberscombe.

Tragically, a 10-year-old boy lost his life in the crash. Six children and three adults remain hospitalized with injuries sustained in the accident. In response to the tragedy, the local community has rallied together, raising tens of thousands of pounds in support of the victims and leaving heartfelt tributes at the school.

A spokesperson for Beacon Education Multi-Academy Trust, which oversees Minehead Middle School, confirmed that the school will reopen its doors on Monday, marking an important step towards recovery for the entire community.
