Midsomer Norton Stabbing: Victim Hospitalized as Man and Teen Arrested

In the early hours of Saturday, May 9, a man was stabbed in a disturbing incident in the town centre of Midsomer Norton, Somerset. Avon and Somerset Police swiftly responded, resulting in the arrest of two individuals: a 21-year-old man and a teenage boy.

The older suspect has been identified as Tyler Rigby, a resident of Odd Down, Bath. He faces a series of serious charges including grievous bodily harm with intent, battery, affray, possession of a bladed article, and dangerous driving. Rigby was remanded in custody and is set to appear at Bristol Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, May 12.

The teenage boy, in his mid-teens, was also arrested on suspicion of affray and wounding with intent. He has since been released on conditional bail as investigations continue.

Police were alerted to the incident around 2:40 a.m. on High Street, where the victim, a man in his early 20s, sustained a stab wound. Fortunately, his injury is not considered life-threatening, and he remains hospitalized in stable condition. Authorities are maintaining contact with him and are prepared to offer support services to help him through this distressing event.

A thorough investigation is underway, involving CCTV footage, dashcam recordings, and forensic analysis. To reassure the local community, Neighbourhood Inspector Dudley Bond emphasized the police’s commitment to a swift and comprehensive response. He encouraged witnesses and anyone with relevant information or footage to come forward, underscoring that even small details can greatly assist the inquiry.
