Michael Palin and Mary Berry Among Stars at Yeovil Literary Festival 2025

This autumn, Somerset will host a literary celebration like no other as the Yeovil Literary Festival reveals its exciting 2025 program. Running from Friday, October 17 to Monday, October 27, the festival features a dynamic array of authors, speakers, and creatives across multiple venues such as Westlands Entertainment Venue, Yeovil Library, St John’s Church, and Waterstones.

Kicking off the season early, Heather Morris, the New Zealand author renowned for The Tattooist of Auschwitz, will present a special pre-festival event on Tuesday, September 9 at St John’s Church, sharing inspiring stories of survival and resilience. Another highlight before the main festival is Sebastian Faulks, author of Birdsong, who will discuss his latest novel, Fires Which Burned Brightly, on Wednesday, October 22.

  • Former Strictly Come Dancing winner and actress Rose Ayling-Ellis will introduce her children’s book Marvellous Messages! on Sunday, October 26 at 6 pm.

  • Celebrated actor Sir David Suchet takes audiences on a journey through the 1920s with Travels with Agatha Christie on Thursday, October 23 at 4 pm.

  • Joanna Page, beloved star of Gavin & Stacey, will reflect on her life in the spotlight on Saturday, October 25 at 2 pm.

Adding to the excitement, Dame Mary Berry will delight fans with a special post-festival event on Wednesday, November 26 at 7:30 pm, discussing her new illustrated book celebrating her 90th birthday.

Other notable guests confirmed include Sandi Toksvig, Amanda Barrie, Abir Mukherjee, Alison Steadman, Dr. Richard Shepherd, Larry Lamb, and Billy Bragg, showcasing a diverse range of voices and talents.

Adam Burgan, director of culture, events, and promotions at Yeovil Town Council, expressed enthusiasm about this year’s lineup: “This is one of our most ambitious festivals yet. We’re thrilled to welcome such a variety of notable personalities and to offer something special for all audiences.
