Michael Knowlson: Family Pays Heartfelt Tribute to Father Who Died in A371 Crash Near Wells

The community of Wells and Croscombe mourns the loss of Michael George Knowlson, who tragically died at the age of 34 following a collision on the A371 in Dinder on Wednesday, February 18.

Michael’s family released an emotional tribute on March 3, honoring him as “a devoted son, a caring brother, a loving daddy, and a loyal friend.” They expressed the profound impact Michael had on their lives and the many lives he touched throughout his 34 years.

“With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Michael George Knowlson, taken far too soon,” the family shared. “His presence brought warmth, laughter, and comfort. His absence leaves a silence and a hole in our hearts that will never be filled.”

As a father, Michael’s love for his son Mason was unconditional, guiding every decision and action. Beyond fatherhood, he was a supportive and kind family member, always ready with a listening ear or a dose of humor. To his friends, he was reliable and genuine, someone who could be counted on in all circumstances.

Though his time was heartbreakingly short, Michael’s legacy lives on through memories, photographs, and stories shared among loved ones. “Forever 34, forever loved, and never forgotten,” his family said.

A football match named Mike’s Match will be held in Michael’s honor on Sunday, March 8, from 2:30 to 4:30 pm at Strode College Sports Centre. Additionally, a service celebrating his life will take place on Friday, March 20, at 11 am at St Cuthbert’s Church, Wells, followed by a private burial at Wells Cemetery.

Friends and family are invited to continue honoring Michael’s memory at Wells Football Club after the service, sharing stories and celebrating the life of a much-loved man.

The family has requested privacy during this difficult time. Those wishing to contribute may make donations to Cancer Research UK and Macmillan Cancer Support, as flowers will be privately arranged by family.

Police continue to investigate the collision involving an Audi S3 and a VW Golf that resulted in two other people being seriously injured. Witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage who has not yet spoken to officers are urged to contact police on 101, referencing incident number 5226046895.
