While the Met Office usually emphasises local weather predictions within a week, its broader national outlook stretches further, covering 1 to 10 September. During this period, meteorologists suggest the UK will experience generally unsettled conditions characterised by intermittent showers and occasional prolonged spells of rain. Rainfall is anticipated to surpass seasonal averages in many regions, with the north west particularly prone to heavier precipitation and possible episodes of strong winds.
The forecast further notes that, amid the unsettled weather, some drier and more settled intervals may emerge, especially in southern areas, possibly becoming more sustained as the period progresses. Temperatures are expected to hover around average levels, although brief warm or very warm spells could develop, predominantly in southern parts.

Looking ahead to the fortnight from 11 to 25 September, the Met Office predicts continued unsettled weather with the north west remaining the area most affected by rainfall. Conversely, the south east is likely to enjoy comparatively drier conditions during this time. Although the precise distribution of rainfall may become less predictable, there is an increased likelihood of longer settled and dry spells compared to earlier in the month. Temperatures during this later period are forecast to remain close to seasonal norms, with warmer intervals anticipated mainly across southern regions.
