Two men, Wayne Shortland from Yeovil and Lewis Coombes from Castle Cary, have been sentenced to prison after stealing video game consoles and cash from a property in South Street, Yeovil. The burglary took place in the early hours of Sunday, March 22, and was captured on a doorbell camera.
Coombes, 38, was apprehended just hours after the theft. He admitted to stealing two game consoles, cash, and other unrecovered items. At Taunton Crown Court on May 22, he pled guilty and was sentenced to 36 months in prison for burglary, theft, assault, breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order, and violating the terms of a suspended sentence.
Shortland, aged 43, was arrested on April 29. Along with burglary, he faced charges for theft of a motor vehicle and four separate shoplifting incidents. He pled guilty and received a sentence of three years and six months at his court appearance on July 10.

PC Jim Card, involved in the investigation, commented, “We welcome the sentencing of these prolific burglars. We hope this brings some comfort to their victims.
