A heartfelt memorial football match will take place this Sunday to honor Michael Knowlson, a devoted father and cherished member of the community who died in a tragic crash near Wells last month.
Michael passed away at the scene of the collision on the A371 in Dinder at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, February 18. His family remembers him as “a devoted son, a caring brother, a loving daddy, and a loyal friend,” expressing their profound grief and the lasting void his loss has left in their lives.
In tribute to Michael’s memory, “Mike’s Match” will be held at Strode College Sports Centre on Sunday, March 8, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. This event offers friends, family, and the wider community a chance to celebrate his life through the sport he loved.

Additionally, a service commemorating Michael’s life is scheduled for Friday, March 20, at 11 a.m. at St Cuthbert’s Church in Wells. The service will be followed by a private burial at Wells Cemetery for close family and friends. Afterwards, attendees are invited to Wells Football Club to continue honoring Michael’s life and legacy.
The police have requested that only family members bring flowers. Those wishing to pay tribute in another way are encouraged to make donations to Cancer Research UK and Macmillan Cancer Support.
