A tragic medical incident occurred at PureGym in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, resulting in the death of a gym member. Emergency services were called to the Gallagher Retail Park location on the morning of Wednesday, May 14.
Gym staff and fellow members acted immediately to assist the individual in distress, utilizing the gym’s emergency red help point to summon help. Paramedics arrived promptly and provided urgent care, but despite their efforts, the member was pronounced dead at the scene.
The gym temporarily closed following the incident but has since reopened. A PureGym spokesperson expressed their condolences, stating: “We can confirm that very sadly a member died at PureGym Weston-Super-Mare yesterday morning. Our gym team and other members promptly assisted the individual, using our emergency red help point to call for further assistance. Paramedics arrived swiftly, but despite their best efforts the member sadly passed away. We extend our sincere condolences to their family and friends.”

At the time, some members were uncertain about the gym’s closure, which was quickly addressed by staff.
